Casa llena at 2018 YAI Latino Conference
Drs. Marta Brana and Laura Gonzalez-Conty represented Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital at the 2018 YAI Latino Conference held at the CUNY Graduate Center on May 15, 2018. Drs. Brana and Gonzalez-Conty presented on the topic of autism, including evaluation, diagnosis, and behavioral and pharmacological management. The conference provided education and resources to Spanish-speaking families and caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities in their native language.
The conference was "casa llena" (full house), with over four hundred members of the Latino community in attendance at this year’s event. YAI is a nonprofit organization that serves people with developmental disabilities. Drs. Brana and Gonzalez-Conty were delighted to contribute and honored to receive mentorship from Dr. Jeremy Veenstra-VanderWeele. Dr. Gonzalez-Conty is also the 2018 recipient of the Sackler Infant Psychiatry Fellowship, which supports clinical work in infant psychiatry, and research on the early developmental processes related to psychiatric illness and normal development.
