We specialize in delivering empirically supported cognitive behavioral therapies for children, adolescents, and young adults suffering from anxiety or anxiety-related disorders.

The Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CUCARD)—Manhattan is a specialty clinic within ColumbiaDoctors—Child & Adolescent Mental Health. 

Our staff of psychologists and psychiatrists has extensive training and expertise in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders, including social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, panic disorder/agoraphobia, specific phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic-stress disorder, mood disorders, and disruptive behavior disorders. Psychiatric evaluation, second opinions, and consultation for medication treatment are also available from our staff psychiatrists.

Our Services

CUCARD offers a variety of clinical services, including comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, individual and group cognitive behavioral treatment, family therapy, and parenting workshops. Our therapists collaborate as appropriate with school or medical personnel and other mental health providers to develop comprehensive treatment plans for each individual patient. Our sister clinic, CUCARD Westchester, also offers individualized and group therapy, as well as a school-refusal program and accelerated outpatient care for children, adolescents, and young adults whose lives are severely impaired by obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, tic disorders, and trichotillomania.

In addition, CUCARD staff offer education and information services to the broader community, including talks or workshops for parent associations, school consultations and training, teacher workshops, and training and consultation on implementing CBT for mental health providers.
